Hyderabad, Sept. 29 (Maxim News): Senior tribal leaders and former public representatives associated with the Congress and BJP in Khanapur Assembly constituency have joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
The joining programme was held at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad under the leadership of Khanapur BRS constituency in-charge Bhukya Johnson Naik. BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao welcomed the new entrants into the party.
Those who joined included Khanapur Youth Congress constituency president and former Kothaguda sarpanch Atram Rahul, along with former MPTC members, deputy sarpanches, Congress leaders and other senior tribal leaders from Utnoor and Indervelli mandals.
KTR Calls for Stronger BRS Presence in Khanapur
Speaking at the programme, KTR said the people were the strength of the BRS and that the party would continue to work on issues concerning Telangana’s rights, welfare and development.
He urged party leaders and workers to remain active on public issues and support people facing difficulties. KTR also called on the newly joined leaders and BRS workers to coordinate with Johnson Naik to strengthen the party in Khanapur constituency.
The leaders who joined the BRS criticised the Congress government, alleging that it had failed to fulfil several promises made during the Assembly elections.
They claimed that people in Khanapur constituency had not seen significant development and welfare measures since the Congress came to power. They also alleged that several issues faced by farmers, tribal communities, youth, women and poorer sections remained unresolved.
The leaders said stronger action was needed on issues concerning the rights, welfare and dignity of tribal and Adivasi communities. They also praised the previous BRS government’s development and welfare programmes and said they had decided to join the BRS based on their belief in the leadership of K. Chandrashekar Rao and KTR.
The new entrants further claimed that the BRS was gaining strength in Khanapur under Johnson Naik’s leadership. They said more leaders and workers were expected to join the party in the coming days.
Their comments regarding the Congress government and the BRS’s future political strength are political claims made at the joining programme. The latest development marks another party-switching event involving local political leaders from Khanapur constituency.
