Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy launched a sharp attack on the Congress government in Telangana, alleging severe financial stress and poor governance. Speaking in Hyderabad on Thursday, he urged people to vote for the BJP to save the state. He claimed that Telangana has suffered under what he described as slave governments for the past twelve years. He also alleged that both the previous BRS government and the present Congress government depended on the Majlis for political support.

Kishan Reddy questioned whether selling government lands in the name of development was justified. He directly challenged leaders of both Congress and BRS on this issue. He said that families were breaking due to alcohol and drug abuse. However, he added that the government’s main focus remained on finding financial resources through land sales and loans. He expressed anger that the Congress government planned to sell lands and borrow more money.

Meanwhile, the Union Minister alleged that the earlier BRS government and the current Congress government pushed a rich state into deep debt. He described the present administration as corrupt and accused it of looting public resources. He said the situation had become so bad that the state did not have money even to light street lights. He also referred to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s call to vote for working parties. In response, Kishan Reddy pointed to five pending dearness allowance installments for government employees and asked whether this reflected a people’s government.

Later, Kishan Reddy questioned why neighboring Andhra Pradesh had many airports while Telangana had none. He asked BRS leaders what they achieved during their ten years in power. He alleged that Telangana had become a golden duck for the Congress party, with money being sent from the state to fund elections elsewhere in the country. He also claimed that government employee benefits were not being released.

He further alleged that businessmen feared what he called RR tax. He questioned how much money the Congress government had given to municipalities after coming to power. He criticised fixed rates and one time payment policies.

He asked what the Congress government had done in the last 26 months. He also raised the issue of phone tapping during the previous government and said nothing had been done in the case, echoing concerns raised by Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha. Kishan Reddy finally noted that GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, elected on a BRS ticket, had joined the Congress party.
