Kishan Reddy Slams Congress Over ‘Useless’ BC Survey
Delhi/Hyderabad, July 25, 2025 (Maxim News): Union Minister for Mines and Telangana BJP President G. Kishan Reddy launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing it of conducting a “useless survey” in Telangana under the guise of social justice. He claimed the survey was designed to mislead Backward Classes (BCs) and manipulate electoral equations by including Muslims in the BC quota.
Key Highlights of Kishan Reddy’s Statement:
While addressing the media in Delhi, the senior BJP leader asserted:
“In its 75-year history, the Congress has never conducted a proper BC census. This so-called survey is just another political gimmick to mislead the BCs,” he said.
He criticized the Congress for failing to deliver on its promise of 42% reservation for BCs, stating that allotting 10% of that quota to Muslims would undermine the rights of genuine BC communities.
Reddy also raised concerns over the Greater Hyderabad elections, where he claimed Muslims were allowed to contest from BC-reserved seats, calling it an “injustice to real BCs.”
On Narendra Modi and Caste Inclusion:
Kishan Reddy emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the second longest-serving PM in Indian history, and his rise reflects BJP’s commitment to backward communities
“Congress never made a BC Prime Minister or even a BC Chief Minister. It was under the BJP that a BC reached the highest post,” he stated.
He clarified that Modi’s community was included in the BC list through the Mandal Commission during Congress rule, and rejected accusations of Modi being a “converted BC.”
Stance on Caste Census and Muslim Reservation:
Reddy asserted that the Centre will not conduct a caste census to include Muslims in BCs, but will support a caste census for doing justice to BCs.
“We have no issue putting 42% reservation in the Ninth Schedule, but it should be strictly for BCs and in accordance with constitutional provisions,” he said.
He further declared that if BJP returns to power, they will abolish Muslim reservations completely.
Criticism of CM Revanth Reddy and Congress Leadership:
Reddy also took a swipe at Telangana CM Revanth Reddy over the ongoing phone tapping controversy, calling it political drama. He questioned Rahul Gandhi’s social identity, demanding clarity from the Congress leader.
“Revanth is making noise without understanding the nuances. Rahul Gandhi should reveal which social category he belongs to instead of targeting PM Modi,” he added.
On developmental matters, Kishan Reddy expressed his willingness to cooperate with the state on the Metro Rail project, but insisted that governance should not be overshadowed by vendetta politics.
