Know your Nizamabad MP Candidate Kavitha Kalvakuntla


Kalvakuntla Kavitha, daughter K Chandrashekhar Rao, is one of the TRS leaders who was at the forefront of Telangana statehood struggle.

She worked as a software engineer in the US before returning to India in 2004 to work for the people of Telangana. She travelled far and wide to know the problems of the people. Born on March 13, 1978, she completed her MS in computer science from the University of Southern Mississippi. She is married to Devanapalli Anil Kumar, a businessman, and the couple is blessed with have two sons — Aditya and Aarya.

She represented Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency from 2014 to 2019. Projecting Bathukamma, the unique floral festival of the State, on the global platform, she was successful in instilling a sense of pride among the people in their own culture.

Telangana Jagruthi, a cultural organisation involved in promoting Telangana culture and festivals, has set up skill centres and has been imparting training to 8,500 students across Telangana besides assisting them in placements. She is an active trade unionist and was the honorary president of the Telangana Boggu Ganula Karmika Sangram, which she resigned recently.

Championing the cause of the turmeric farmers in the State, she made many representations to the Centre for setting up a turmeric board in Nizamabad.
