KSPCB warns industries

Karnataka State Pollution Control Board today warned owners of industries and commercial complexes against release of untreated sewage water from their facilities saying that such offence was punishable with jail term under law.

The agency said it had been observed in the city that some industries and commercial complex owners were indulging in such unlawful activities by releasing untreated sewage into drains during night after the Board passed strict instructions.

In a release here, the Board said such violators face criminal cases that include jail terms under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, if found guilty.
