Hyderabad, Nov. 7: BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) has accused the Congress government of manipulating tenders for the Kodangal-Narayanpet-Makthal Lift Irrigation Scheme. He alleged that the process favoured a company owned by Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
In a post on X, Rama Rao questioned the tendering process initiated by the Revanth Reddy-led government. He claimed that a company owned by the minister participated in the bidding.
He alleged that other participating firms were merely paper entities or nominal companies. According to him, the process was designed to leave only one company in the contest and ensure its eventual selection.
Rama Rao also questioned the sharp increase in the project’s estimated cost. He said the cost had risen from approximately Rs. 1,450 crore in 2014 to Rs. 6,825 crore.
KTR Questions Project Cost Escalation and Transparency
The BRS leader alleged that the government had inflated project estimates in the name of construction. He further accused officials of manipulating tenders to favour selected companies.
“The project cost has escalated from Rs. 1,450 crore to Rs. 6,825 crore. Telangana’s wealth is being plundered in the name of projects, while the public is left waiting for water,” Rama Rao said.
He also criticised the alleged lack of transparency in the tendering process. In his post, he used terms such as “crony capitalism”, “daylight robbery” and “kleptocracy” to attack the government.
Rama Rao urged Congress MP Rahul Gandhi to help find a new term to describe what he called the alleged misuse of public funds.
