KTR assures to resolve problems of VRAs
Hyderabad, Sept.13 (NSS): Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) KT Rama Rao has assured to resolve the problems of Village Revenue Assistants (VRAs) who have been agitating for some time, demanding a better pay scale and job security.
Minister KT Rama Rao held talks with the representatives of VRAs’ Joint Action Committee at the Assembly hall even as the House was in session on Tuesday.
The Minister said the State government was ready to discuss all the problems and would try to resolve them as early as possible.
He said as the State government is planning to celebrate the National Integration Day celebrations from September 16, the VRAs should call off their agitation and resume their duties.
The Minister further said he would hold another meeting with the VRA leaders on September 20 and asked the village revenue assistants to call off their agitation immediately.
Earlier in the day, tension prevailed near Telangana Assembly as the protesting Village Revenue Assistants (VRAs) attempted to lay siege to the Assembly building, however, a large posse of police personnel deployed for the Assembly proceedings thwarted their attempt and took several protestors into preventive custody.
Amid heightened tension, KTR called the representatives of the VRA committee into the Assembly Hall for talks. After patiently listening to their demands, KTR assured the VRA representatives that their issues will be resolved.
The VRAs have been staging protests across the State for the last two months, demanding to resolve their problems. During the protest period, about 28 VRAs sofar committed suicide demanding pay scale. (NSS)
