Lecture On ‘Smart Farming for Evergreen Revolution’

Hyderabad, Nov.1 (Maxim News): The Eminent Soil Scientist Dr B Ramamoorthy 3rd memorial lecture has been organised here at seminar hall in PJTSAU auditorium, Rajendranagar on Friday. Dr KS Subramanian, Director of Research, TNAU had delivered the memorial lecture on “Smart Farming for Evergreen Revolution”. Dr V Praveen Rao VC, PJTSAU has presided over the memorial lecture.

While delivering the lecture Dr Subramanian spoke about the challenges and opportunities in the smart agriculture and he also emphasized on how the artificial intelligence, drone, sensor technologies, Robotics may play a crucial role in extending modern technologies to the farmers in the country. He also spoke on how the nano-technology will contribute the agricultural research for providing better services and developing low cost farm applications and technologies. Dr Subramanian further said that, the smart farming is applied in four major areas in agriculture namely precision agriculture, protected cultivation, Drones in Agriculture, and Farm management systems. The application of smart farming is getting expanded widely that commensurate with technology development, he added.

Delivering the presidential remarks Dr Praveen Rao said that, there is a need to have collaborative networking between all the agricultural universities in the country for sharing of one experience to others. He says that frontier technologies will play vital role in agriculture research and development and extension services in future.

Dr T Pradeep, Director of Research PJTSAU, Dr Adhilaxmi retired agricultural scientist and daughter of Dr Ramamoorthy, former VC ANGRAU Dr A Padmaraju, Board member PJTSAU Dr. EA Siddique, several scientists faculty, research scholars of PJTSAU graced the occasion.(Maxim News)
