Leopard Spotted in Hyderabad Again

Hyderabaad: The leopard that was seen late last week near the Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agriculture University has been sighted once again, this time on a couple of camera traps installed by the Forest officials in an area between the University and the Gagan Pahad reserve forests.

The cameras, which are among 25 such camera traps installed around the forest area by the Forest department after last Thursday’s sighting, clicked the big cat strolling outside a compound wall, most probably of one of the institutions affiliated to the university in the area. The time on one of the photos is 11.14 pm on Monday.

The second photo too is of the leopard sauntering outside a compound wall, which officials say is in the same area and is close to the forest area. Forest officials say both the cameras were very close to the forest area, which meant the leopard was restricting itself to the forests and its immediate vicinity, without venturing out anywhere near the residential areas in Rajendranagar.

The public however, are still warned to be cautious of venturing out in the night. The leopard is believed to be the same one which was seen resting near the divider in the middle of the road near the Katedan road-under-bridge on May 14.
