Liquor Prices Hiked in Konaseema Ahead of New Year
Amravathi/Hyderabad, Dec. 31 (Maxim News): Liquor prices were increased in Andhra Pradesh’s Konaseema district ahead of New Year celebrations, triggering sharp reactions from consumers and prompting demands for excise department action.
According to local reports, liquor traders in Konaseema raised prices by Rs 50 per full bottle. However, consumers alleged that traders implemented the hike without formal government approval. As a result, liquor buyers expressed anger and urged excise officials to take immediate action against arbitrary pricing.
Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government announced special relaxations in liquor shop timings for New Year festivities. Authorities permitted liquor outlets to operate until midnight on December 31 and January 1.
