Lizard In The Milk: Hyderabad Shocking Violations Uncovered!!!
Hyderabad: Food safety officials in Telangana conducted an inspection of a milk processing unit in Jangaon, about 90 km from Hyderabad, revealing a series of alarming violations. The unit in question, Shakti Milk and Milk Products, located in Raghunathpally Mandal, was found to be in gross violation of hygiene and safety standards.
Among the most disturbing findings was the discovery of a dead lizard near food items in the kitchen. The ghee stored in the facility was left uncovered, attracting houseflies and mosquitoes, and the cold storage room had damaged roofing and floors. The roof was also found to be covered in spider webs.

The inspection uncovered additional issues:
- Unhygienic equipment: Dirty, rusted, and unsterilized machinery.
- Poor storage practices: Raw food was stored haphazardly, and pest control records and water analysis reports were missing.
- Labeling issues: Several packaged products were found with incorrect or missing labels.
As a result, 720 kg of curd was discarded due to contamination, fungal growth, and spoilage, while another 1,700 kg was seized over concerns about labeling violations and potential substandard quality.
Food safety officers have taken samples for further lab testing, and the unit faces legal consequences under the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act, 2006, and FSS Rules and Regulations, 2011.
