Lover jumps on railway tracks in Old City Hyderabad; injured

Charminar: A 24 year-old man, whose proposal was reportedly rejected by a woman, jumped from the platform of Malakpet railway station on to the tracks as the woman was watching and injured himself.

According to the police, the man Gauhar alias Raza, a resident of Chandrayangutta area in Old City had gone to the platform on Monday night along with a woman who he knew for just three days.

Both of them had met at a bus stop in Chandrayangutta area on Saturday morning. On Monday evening, Raza and the woman who claimed to work as a nurse at a private hospital had gone in an auto-rickshaw to Azampura.

“They reportedly went onto the platform. The woman who witnessed the incident claims that Raza told her that he will jump on to the tracks if she did not accept his proposal. She did not accept it, and he jumped. He suffered head injuries and was rushed to Osmania General Hospital, where he is under treatment” the Chaderghat police said.

However, the police are verifying what actually happened as the woman is giving a conflicting version of the incident. The man was also reportedly in an inebriated condition, according to her. Further details are awaited.
