The revised prices will come into effect from tomorrow. After staying stable for nearly a year, domestic LPG cylinder prices have now seen a sudden increase.

Speaking at a press conference, Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stated that under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), the price of a gas cylinder will rise from ₹500 to ₹550. For regular consumers, the price will increase from ₹803 to ₹853.

The minister clarified that this hike is a temporary measure and that the government will review the prices every two to three weeks.

He further stated that the hike is not an additional burden on consumers but a step to recover the ₹43,000 crore losses incurred by Oil Marketing Companies from LPG sales. He also mentioned that the recent excise duty increases on petrol and diesel are aimed at balancing these financial losses. (Maxim News)
