Mahamood Ali lays DNA, Molecular Biology Lab foundation
Hyderabad, Oct.23 (Maxim News): Home Minister Mahamood Ali today laid a foundation stone for the construction of the building of DNA and Molecular Biology Laboratory at Shanthi Nagar in Nampally here was laid by Chief Guest Mohammed Mahmood Ali.
This project is coming under Safe City Project by spending Rs 17.48 crore for construction of a G+3 building with 14,000 sq ft space with modern Gadgets for DNA and Molecular biology analysis with experts. With this facility the time taken for analysis of crucial evidence will further reduce aiding in speedy investigation.
Mahamood Ali later told media persons that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has been giving top priority to the Police Department. The HM said that the DNA and Molecular biology laboratory will be of immense help to check the crimes in future.
He attributed the vision of the chief minister for modernizing the police department with latest equipment and friendly policing
Ali hoped that this facility under the Safe City Project of MHA helps in examining all types of Forensic Evidences and to solve the crime cases at the earliest and help Investigation officers. The HM commended that the Police Department is being friendly with the peace loving citizens and being vigilant all the time towards the criminals. He appreciated Telangana Police for keeping the state safe.
Molecular Biology tools have enhanced the capability of the forensic scientists to characterize biological evidence to the point where it is feasible to analyze minute samples and achieve high levels of individualization. Characterization, or ”typing,” of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) for purposes of criminal investigation can be thought of as an extension of the forensic typing of blood that has been common for more than 50 years; it is actually an extension from the typing of proteins that are coded for by DNA to the typing of DNA itself.
CP Anjani Kumar, said that this facility will aid the Police Department to curb the criminals and also helps in detecting the cases at earlier stages.
Shikha Goel, Additional CP, informed that this facility is being created under the “Safe City Project”. Rs 17.48 crore have been earmarked for this laboratory for construction of a G+3 building with 14,000 sq ft space equipping it with most modern Gadgetary for DNA and Molecular biology analysis and manning it with experts. With this facility the time taken for analysis of crucial evidence will further reduce aiding in speedy investigation.
Abhilasha Bisth, Director FSL thanked the Telangana Government for its continuous support in upgrading the FSL including recent sanction of new posts by the government. She appreciated the FSL staff for the yeoman services being funded by them to the investigating officers.
