Maharashtra: 6K Bank Employees Staged Protest
Hyderabad, Feb.23 (Maxim News): Around six thousand employees of the bank of Maharashtra working in around 1900 branches of the country staged powerful demonstrations demanding adequate recruitment in all cadres like Part-time Sub staff, Sub staff and Clerks.
The agitation program was held under the aegis of All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA). In a statement, the General Secretary of All India Bank of Maharashtra Employees Federation (AIBOMEF) Devidas Tuljapurkar said that the temporary part-time Sub staff were working in more than 1,100 branches and added that more than 600 branches of the bank had temporary Sub staff . He also said that Since last five years the bank had not filled up vacancies which fell vacant due to the death, retirement, resignation or promotion in clerical cadre and the vacancies arising out of branch expansion and increase in business. He said that as per their estimates, more than one thousand clerks were needed to be recruited to man the branches of the bank properly.
He alleged that the bank was resorting to outsourcing of jobs even in core activities while noting that it is inviting fraud risk by doing so in the process. He also alleged that the Bank management was taking all HR and IR decisions unilaterally by setting aside age-old practice of Bi-partisan despite the strong objection by the employees union.
He said that they were holding a Dharna on February 26th infront of 32 zonal offices besides holding another Dharna before Lokmangal Head Office of the bank on March 6th next month. He also said that they would observe a day long nationwide strike on March 12,2021.(Maxim News)
