Mahesh Kumar Goud Rebuts KTR Allegations In Phone Tapping Case

Hyderabad, Jan. 23: Telangana Congress president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud on Friday dismissed allegations made by BRS working president KT Rama Rao over the phone tapping case, calling them baseless and misleading.

Speaking to the media, Mahesh Kumar Goud said claims of personal harassment were laughable. He stated that the investigation was being conducted strictly as per constitutional provisions and legal procedures.

Mahesh Kumar Goud said that if there were political vendetta, action would have been taken immediately after the change of government.

He advised KTR to engage in self introspection over the phone tapping issue.

He said listening to private conversations violated personal freedom and could not be justified. He remarked that KTR’s statements sounded contradictory and evasive.

The Congress leader alleged that large scale phone tapping took place during the BRS regime. He claimed that 547 phones were tapped within three months and said even his friend’s phone was placed under surveillance.

Mahesh Kumar Goud questioned the need to tap phones of film personalities. He stated that phone tapping was permitted only in matters affecting national security and serious threats.

He said the phone tapping case was grave and should not be compared with agitation related cases. He added that officials worked within legal limits and could not act arbitrarily.

Responding to remarks about Kavitha, he said he respected her as a sister and welcomed her speaking the truth. He alleged that internal disputes within the former ruling family stemmed from power sharing issues.

Mahesh Kumar Goud also questioned why cases related to alleged Kaleshwaram irregularities were not addressed earlier. He clarified that there would be no change in the AICC in charge.
