Hyderabad, April 13: A man was beaten to death by villagers after he attacked people with a knife in a village in Kakinada district on Monday. The incident occurred in Mukuluru village of Rowthulapudi mandal.
According to police, the man, identified as Gangaraju, created panic while under the influence of alcohol. He suspected theft of cashew nuts from his grove.
He entered the village with a knife and attacked residents. As a result, four persons suffered serious injuries.
Knife attack triggers panic in Kakinada village
The injured were identified as Ramana, Kotamma, Chinnabbayi, and Yerrabbayi. They sustained injuries during the sudden attack.
Meanwhile, frightened villagers gathered and tried to stop him. Eventually, they retaliated and overpowered the attacker.
During the scuffle, villagers beat Gangaraju. He died on the spot due to injuries.
Police reached the village soon after receiving information. They shifted the injured to the government hospital in Rowthulapudi for treatment.
Officials registered a case and started an investigation. Further details are awaited.
