Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against a man for allegedly sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl after luring her with chocolates.
The accused, identified as Ravi Kumar, was taken into custody after the child informed her mother about the alleged incident.
Child alerted mother after alleged assault
According to police, the incident allegedly took place on the afternoon of July 26 at an apartment complex in Malkajgiri, where the child was playing.
Investigators said Ravi Kumar, a resident of Mallikarjunagar who reportedly works at a tent house, allegedly called the girl with the promise of chocolates before sexually assaulting her.
The child returned home in tears and narrated the incident to her mother, who immediately approached the Malkajgiri police and lodged a complaint.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case under the POCSO Act and took the accused into custody. Further investigation is underway.
