Mancherial: Two Youngsters Drown In A Deep Pit

Mancherial: Two youngsters were found drowned in a shallow yet deep pit at an agriculture field when they supposedly tried to record their swimming skills and post them on social media platforms, on the outskirts of Madaram Township in Thandur mandal on Wednesday night. Their bodies were brought out. The incident came to fore on Thursday.

Thandur Inspector K Babu Rao and Sub-Inspector M Manasa said that the deceased were Arji Vasu (18), Intermediate II year student and Dudam Sathish (21), who discontinued intermediate, both belonging to the township.

Vasu and Sathish left their homes on Wednesday in the afternoon. Their parents launched a search, but in vain till late evening. A farmer, Mallaiah, spotted the bodies in the deep pit at his agriculture field. He alerted residents of the township, who in turn informed the police about the incident. Babu Rao and Madaram Sub-Inspector rushed to the spot and fished out the bodies by deploying certain locals.

“According to primary investigations, Vasu, an avid user of Facebook and Instagram, apparently tried to shoot videos of swimming to upload the clips on social media platforms. He is obsessed with posting his stunts on social networking sites and imitating dialogues of many Tollywood heros. Both Vasu and Sathish are familiar with swimming. Their clothes and slippers were found on the banks of the pit,” Babu Rao told Telangana Today.

Raju, the father of Vasu, lodged a complaint with police. A case was registered under section 174 of the criminal procedure code (CrPC). The bodies were shifted to Bellampalli government hospital for post-mortem.
