Hyderabad: MANUU Constitution Day observance took place today with an oath-taking ceremony held by the Department of Education and Training at Maulana Azad National Urdu University. Faculty members, staff and many students took part in the pledge to reaffirm their commitment to the ideals of the Constitution of India. The event aimed to remind the academic community of its responsibility to uphold democratic values.

Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor, delivered the main address. He reflected on the values enshrined in the Constitution and said that justice, liberty, equality and fraternity form the moral and democratic foundation of the nation. He urged teachers and students to uphold constitutional morality and said the academic community plays a vital role in shaping informed and responsible citizens. His remarks set the tone for the day’s programmes.

Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar, and Prof. M. Vanaja, Dean of the School, also addressed the gathering. Later, Prof. Siddiqui Mohd Mahmood said universities must act as spaces that promote democratic thought, ethical responsibility and national integration. Prof. Shaheen A. Shaik, Head of the Department, proposed the vote of thanks. The event was coordinated by Prof. Ashwani and anchored by Dr. Afshan Abdul Karim. Senior faculty including Prof. Mohammed Moshahid, Prof. Viqar Unnisa and Prof. Athar Hussain attended the ceremony. Their presence added weight to the institutional commitment to constitutional ideals.

Meanwhile, MANUU Law School held a separate programme to observe Constitution Day. Prof. Tabrez Ahmad, Dean and Head, spoke about the transformative role of the Constitution. He said it shaped democratic institutions and ensured protection of fundamental rights. Therefore, he encouraged students to take part in constitutional discourse and contribute to nation-building. Adv. Nazir Ahmed Khan, Associate Professor of Practice, and Dr. Shoaib Ansari, Assistant Professor, also shared their views. Dr. Mudassir Bhat, Assistant Professor at the Law School, administered the oath.

The School of Arts and Social Sciences at MANUU also observed Constitution Day today. The series of programmes across departments showed the university’s broader efforts to promote constitutional values. The events highlighted the need to nurture awareness, respect and responsibility among students in a democratic society.
