MANUU Launches FDP To Empower Educators and Foster Women Entrepreneurship

Hyderabad, July 29 (Maxim News): In a pioneering move to strengthen women-led entrepreneurship in higher education, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has inaugurated a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) in collaboration with the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) under the Swavalambini Women Entrepreneurship Programme.

Hosted at the UGC-MMTTC (Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre), MANUU, from July 29 to August 1, 2025, the FDP is a national-level initiative aimed at empowering faculty members to mentor and nurture the next generation of student entrepreneurs, especially women innovators. The program is a joint effort by MSDE (Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship) and NITI Aayog, emphasizing inclusivity and sustainable development through entrepreneurship.

Building Entrepreneurial Capacity in Academia

Inaugurating the event, Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar of MANUU, highlighted the growing relevance of entrepreneurial thinking in today’s academic and professional landscapes. “We are not just training faculty—we are shaping mentors who will ignite innovation and ambition across campuses,” he said.

Dr. Yamini Jaiswal, Senior Consultant at NIESBUD, delivered the keynote address, outlining the Swavalambini initiative’s vision to create campus-based ecosystems of enterprise. Sharing case studies and success stories, she encouraged participants to take active roles in guiding students through the entrepreneurial journey—from ideation to execution.

Prof. M. Vanaja, Dean of the School of Education and Training, lauded the program’s emphasis on inclusivity, while Prof. Saneem Fatima, Director of UGC-MMTTC, reiterated the centre’s alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasizing capacity-building and innovation within Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

Program Overview

The FDP has selected 15 faculty members from MANUU, who will undergo intensive training in:

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and leadership
  • Business model creation and validation
  • Mentorship and incubation strategies
  • Funding opportunities for startups
  • The role of HEIs in building startup ecosystems

Dr. Meraj Ahmed Mubarki, Deputy Director of UGC-MMTTC, expressed confidence in the transformative potential of such training programs and affirmed MANUU’s commitment to sustaining mentorship-driven entrepreneurship on campus.
