MANUU pays tribute to Baig Ehsas
Hyderabad, Sept. 9 (Maxim News): The Department of Urdu, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) today organized a condolence meeting and paid rich tribute to Prof. Baig Ehsas, eminent Urdu fiction writer, critic and literary journalist who passed away yesterday morning.
Prof. Mohd. Naseemuddin Farees, Dean, School of Languages, MANUU while recalling his forty year’s of association with the departed soul said Prof. Baig Ehsas connected Urdu people with the Media. His works reflect feelings of a writer, artist and intellectual. Prof. Farooq Bakhshi shared his personal memories and said that the demise of Baig Ehsas is a great loss and Urdu world has lost a legendary figure who nurtured the language and literature.
The Associate Professors of the Department – Dr. Mosarrat Jahan, Dr. Shamshul Hoda, Dr. Abu Shaheem Khan and Assistant Professors – Dr. Firoz Alam & Dr. Bi Bi Raza Khatoon also expressed their condolences in the meeting and described him as a fiction writer who represented a culture through his writings.
It is to mention here that Mohammed Baig Ehsas was an Indian scholar and short story writer from Hyderabad. He served as the head of the Urdu department at Osmania University and University of Hyderabad. His short story collection Dukhma won the 2017 Sahitya Akademi Award for Urdu. (Maxim News)
