Hyderabad, Feb. 17: The Medaram Jatara controversy intensified after a video showed a vendor named Vali allegedly facing harassment while selling kova bun at the fair.
In the viral clip, some individuals claiming to be from the media accused him of selling spoiled buns.
They alleged he mixed semolina in the kova. They also forced him to eat the bun during the confrontation.
As a result, the video spread widely on social media. Consequently, many users extended support to Vali.
Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh stated that he would meet Vali and express solidarity.

Meanwhile, BJP Saroor Nagar corporator Akula Srivani made strong remarks on the issue.
She alleged that certain groups were attempting to divide the country under the guise of secularism.
She claimed that food adulteration occurs across the country. Furthermore, she alleged that forces from Pakistan and Bangladesh were involved in such activities. She also said adulteration was affecting children’s health.
In addition, she questioned how kova priced at Rs 500 per kilogram could be sold for Rs 10. She described the sale of kova bun as a form of food jihad.
The incident has now triggered political reactions, even as authorities have not issued an official statement on the allegations.
