Hyderabad: The Messi Hyderabad match has become the most discussed sporting event in Telangana, with global football icon Lionel Messi arriving in the city to play a high profile friendly at Uppal Stadium today. Football fans across India are eagerly awaiting the match, which has gained added significance as Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is also set to take part alongside Messi.
The Messi Hyderabad match has triggered unprecedented demand for tickets, which sold out rapidly online. Sports observers note that the Chief Minister’s participation has further heightened public curiosity, as he is widely regarded as one of the few political leaders in the country with the physical stamina to actively play a football match. The event has attracted interest not only from sports lovers but also from political leaders, industrialists, and public figures.
Adding to the prominence of the Messi Hyderabad match, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is arriving in Hyderabad to witness the game. With multiple high profile attendees expected, police have implemented extensive security arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the event.
Messi Hyderabad Match Schedule and Security Arrangements
According to official sources, Lionel Messi is scheduled to arrive at Shamshabad airport on Saturday afternoon and proceed directly to Taj Falaknuma Palace. There, he will participate in a meet and greet programme with fans who booked slots by paying a fee of Rs 10 lakh per person. Only 100 fans were allowed for this interaction, and all slots were fully booked in advance.
In the evening, Messi will reach Uppal Stadium at 6 pm and interact with a junior football team. He is expected to spend around 15 minutes guiding young players and sharing basic techniques. The friendly match between Singareni RR and Aparna Messi teams will begin later in the evening. Messi is scheduled to play the final five minutes of the match alongside Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Messi’s teammates Rodrigo and Luis Suarez will also participate in the game. After the match, Messi will return to Falaknuma Palace for an overnight stay before departing for Mumbai on Sunday morning.
Rahul Gandhi will arrive at Shamshabad airport at 4.15 pm and travel directly to Falaknuma Palace to meet Messi. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will also be present during the interaction. Rahul Gandhi will then proceed to Uppal Stadium to watch the Messi Hyderabad match and is expected to leave the city by 10.30 pm.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner Sudheer Babu said elaborate security measures were in place for the Messi Hyderabad match.
He stated that more than 3,000 police personnel were deployed, along with 450 CCTV cameras and a mini command control room around the stadium. Messi has been provided Z category security, and a green channel has been arranged along his travel route.
The Commissioner clarified that no passes would be sold near the stadium and all tickets were issued online. He also urged the public not to approach the venue without valid passes. She Teams have been deployed for women’s safety, designated parking areas have been marked, and drone cameras will be used for continuous surveillance.
