Minister Gangula Kamalakar Emphasizes Need to Consume Sweet Lime
Karimnagar: BC Welfare Minister Gangula Kamalakar emphasized the need to consume sweet lime to enhance body immunity in the wake of the spread of coronavirus.
The Minister along with Karimnagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Y Sunil Rao distributed sweet lime to people while participating in “Telangana Bathai (sweet lime)” day celebrations held at the district headquarters bus stand on Sunday.

The Minister said Rajyasabha MP J Santhosh Kumar had given the call for Sunday to be celebrated as “Sweet Lime Day,” and this was being done across the State. Explaining the benefits of consuming sweet lime, he said it is necessary to strengthen the body’s immune system to face coronavirus. “The fruit also has a lot of antioxidants that help in warding off illnesses,” he said.
“Besides strengthening bone strength, it also helps people in keeping themselves keeping active throughout the day. Vitamin C in sweet lime also helps in checking scurvy disease besides strengthening the digestion system,” he said.
Deputy Mayor Challa Swaroopa Rani and others participated in the programme.
