Minister Uttam assures completion of pending projects across Telangana 

Hyderabad, December 17: Irrigation, Food & Civil Supplies Minister Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy assured the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday that the Congress government is committed to completing all pending irrigation projects across Telangana. Emphasizing the importance of these initiatives, the minister outlined detailed plans for several major projects, including the Kaleshwaram Project, lift irrigation schemes, and reservoir alignments.

Responding to questions during the Assembly’s Question Hour, the minister announced that Packages 17, 18, and 19 under the Kaleshwaram Project will be completed within the next two years. He criticized the previous BRS government for neglecting Package 19 A, which was designed to bring 39,000 acres of ayacut under irrigation. 

For the Singur Reservoir, Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that alternative financial alignment proposals are currently being developed to ensure the reservoir reaches its full capacity. Meanwhile, survey estimates are underway for the Peddareddypet Lift Irrigation Scheme in the Narayankhed constituency, which aims to create 39,000 acres of new ayacut. He added that a final decision on the project will be taken once the survey is completed.

The minister also informed the Assembly that the government is closely reviewing the status of the Vengalaraya Sagar Project in Bhadradri Kothagudem district and will soon make decisions based on its current condition. 

Highlighting the Basameshwar and Sangameshwar Projects, Uttam Kumar Reddy said these initiatives were intended to make Narayankhed and Zaheerabad constituencies fertile. However, he remarked that the previous BRS government failed to make significant progress. The minister assured that the present government would complete the associated lifts and link projects without delay. 

Uttam Kumar Reddy reaffirmed the government’s dedication to completing irrigation projects across the state, ensuring water availability for agricultural development and addressing the long-pending demands of farmers. (Maxim News)
