Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy Wishes Prosperity For Telangana On Sankranti
Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy extended his warm Sankranti wishes to the state’s people, expressing hopes for “prosperity and abundance” to shine upon Telangana.

In a statement, Uttam Kumar Reddy called for unity among citizens and urged them to celebrate the festival harmoniously, transcending caste and religious differences.
The minister praised the state’s unparalleled agricultural success, citing a record-breaking yield of 153 lakh metric tonnes of paddy in the past year. He attributed this achievement to the government’s consistent support for farmers and described it as reflecting the state’s commitment to agriculture. “This is truly the year of the farmer,” he remarked, emphasizing that Telangana has emerged as a model for farmer welfare in India.

Uttam Kumar Reddy noted that projects neglected by previous administrations are now being prioritized under the current government. He explained that a comprehensive plan has been devised to complete these projects and transform Telangana into a fertile and prosperous state.
On the education front, Uttam Kumar Reddy highlighted the government’s initiatives to establish integrated residential schools of international standards, with an estimated budget of Rs. 5,000 crore. He also drew attention to welfare measures implemented for students, including the introduction of a common diet system in government hostels. Diet charges were increased by 40%, and cosmetic charges saw a 200% hike, demonstrating the government’s commitment to student welfare. Additionally, students will now be served fine-quality rice in government hostels, ensuring nutritious meals.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that new white ration cards were being issued to all eligible poor families across Telangana. He also announced that fine rice will soon be distributed to all white ration cardholders, ensuring food security for the underprivileged.
He lauded the reforms in the civil supplies sector, stating that they have yielded remarkable results in improving efficiency and transparency. Additionally, he acknowledged ongoing efforts to restore the irrigation sector, which had faced decades of neglect.

Minister Uttam urged the people of Telangana to join hands with the government in its efforts to drive the state towards comprehensive development. He called for active citizen participation, stating that the collective efforts of the government and the public are essential for building a prosperous Telangana.
