Hyderabad, Oct.15 (Maxim News): Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today appealed to farmers in the state to focus on alternative crop like spices production, commercial and other crops.
At a program here, the minister said that the state government will appeal to the centre to set up spices research Center in Telangana to boost its production. Stating that organic farming is preferred across the world, he said that spices production will be given priority in the state. The government will provide help of subsidy for seeds and fertilisers if they prefer spices and other crops that fetch benefits.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has already informed in the state Assembly that the government will launch a few more schemes for the benefit and welfare of the farmers. The government will provide marketing and other facility for the farmers cultivating spices, Reddy said.
The Chief Minister is for farmers welfare and the focus now is on production of the spices in our state. Being a farmer I will also take up cultivation of spices crops and share my experience, the minister said. The centre has to set up spices production centre in our state and the government will push the same, he said.
Reddy expressed happiness that a farmer earned Rs 60000 for cultivating coriander as alternate crop to cotton cultivation. Such variety of crops should be cultivated besides rearing village cocks to get more income.(Maxim News)
