RGIA Hyderabad | Hyderabad, April 14 (Maxim News) : A major mishap was averted at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday morning after a mobile phone battery exploded inside a passenger’s bag, causing brief panic at the airport.
According to officials, the incident occurred during routine security checks at the airport in Shamshabad. The passenger was scheduled to board a flight to Raipur when security personnel were scanning luggage.
During the screening process, the mobile battery suddenly exploded inside the bag, releasing smoke and alarming both passengers and staff. Security teams acted swiftly and brought the situation under control without delay.
Although the sudden blast startled those present, no injuries were reported. Fire and safety personnel responded immediately, preventing any escalation.
Preliminary reports suggest that the explosion may have been caused by a defective battery or a possible short circuit. The incident led to a brief delay in the Raipur-bound flight. (Maxim News)
