Both parties are treating these elections as a serious challenge. Therefore, they are moving carefully on candidate selection.

Party leaderships have decided to give tickets only to candidates with strong winning chances. As part of this plan, they are conducting surveys in wards and divisions before finalising candidates.

To gain an edge in the Municipal Elections, Congress and BRS have begun structured survey exercises. In the first phase, both parties assessed public support in wards and divisions.

These surveys focused on identifying which party enjoys greater support and which election symbol voters prefer.

Based on this data, parties aim to understand their influence at the grassroots level. They also want clarity on winning prospects and the possibility of securing mayor or chairman posts.

However, reservation details for the Municipal Elections are yet to be finalised. Therefore, both Congress and BRS plan to conduct fresh surveys once reservations are announced.

These surveys will consider the social category for which each ward is reserved. From each party, three to five potential candidates will be included in the survey.

The parties have decided to give tickets strictly based on survey results. Seniority, money power, or influence will not be the main criteria. Instead, winning potential will guide all decisions.

Municipal Elections | Congress directive and BRS survey-driven approach

Meanwhile, the Congress party has instructed its MLAs and in-charges to submit five names from each ward or division.

The party leadership has clearly stated that personal preferences should not influence ticket distribution. Surveys will determine the final candidate.

Congress has also decided that local MLAs or in-charges will announce candidates, not the PCC. Party leaders believe this approach will ensure candidate loyalty and avoid future local-level issues.

Similarly, the BRS party has decided to rely fully on surveys for Municipal Elections. Party leaders believe there is growing public dissatisfaction with the Congress government.

They feel this sentiment can convert into votes, as seen earlier in the sarpanch elections. Therefore, BRS wants strong local candidates who stay accessible and share people’s concerns.

The state leadership has clearly communicated this approach to local leaders.

Under this plan, BRS leaders will submit three to five names from each ward or division. Then, the party will conduct surveys to assess public acceptance. Based on the findings, BRS will finalise candidates.

Both parties believe this data-driven strategy will strengthen their chances in the upcoming Municipal Elections and help them secure better results.
