Municipal Elections: Govt Declares Holiday

Hyderabad, Feb 10 (Maxim News) The government has taken a key decision in the wake of the municipal elections in Telangana. The government has declared tomorrow (Wednesday) as a holiday for polling day.

The holiday will be applicable to factories, shops and industries within the jurisdiction of municipalities and municipal corporations where elections are being held. In addition, this holiday will be applicable to employees and workers working within the jurisdiction of municipalities.

The state government issued orders to this effect on Tuesday. The government has taken a decision to provide an opportunity to exercise the right to vote. This holiday will be applicable only within the jurisdiction of municipalities and corporations where elections are being held

Municipal elections will be held across Telangana in a single phase. Polling will be held for 116 municipalities and 7 corporations in the state. A total of 12,930 candidates are in the fray. The Election Commission has prepared 8,203 polling stations and 16,301 ballot boxes for the elections.

Polling will be held tomorrow (February 11) from 7 am to 5 pm. The results will be announced on February 13. The Election Commission has completed all arrangements for the polling.

Liquor shops will be closed during the polling period and strict security measures will be taken. Officials are urging voters to exercise their right to vote. (Maxim News)
