Municipal Polls Will Be Completed Next Month: CM

Hyderabad, Oct.24 (Maxim News): Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday announced that elections to the municipalities and municipal corporations in the State would be completed in November with the High Court’s green signal. “We will issue election notification after receipt of proposals from the Election Commission.

Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan in the afternoon, the jubilant Chief Minister said the “Palle Pragathi Pranalika” program was conducted successfully and everyone was hailing the program, which gave good results. K Chandrashelhar Rao said the State government introduced two new Acts i.e. Gram Panchayat Act and new Municipal Act recently and new Revenue Act in on the anvil. The new Acts will help develop the villages and towns. “We don’t make empty promises. We are wedded to bring about development. We will do it with the financial assistance from the Central and State finance commissions”, he said.

The Chief Minister said the State government has been releasing Rs 339 crores to gram panchayats every month and allocated grants in the budget. The State government was keen on developing the 141 municipalities at a cost of Rs 2060 crore. (Maxim News)
