Amaravati, August 2: Andhra Pradesh Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh on Sunday reaffirmed the State government’s commitment to building a drug-free Andhra Pradesh and welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s launch of the nationwide ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ campaign.
Nara Lokesh Welcomes National Anti-Drug Campaign
Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister, Lokesh said the campaign aims to create a drug-free society by encouraging youth to stay away from substance abuse.
He noted that the Centre has called for a 100-week nationwide public participation programme, urging citizens to join the movement against drug abuse.
Lokesh appealed to people from all sections of society to actively participate in the campaign and contribute to building a healthier and safer nation.
The Minister said that after the coalition government assumed office in Andhra Pradesh, several awareness programmes were launched under the “No Drugs Bro” initiative to educate young people about the dangers of narcotics.
He added that the State government has also constituted a special enforcement group named EAGLE to strengthen anti-drug efforts.
According to Lokesh, the government is working with the active participation of society to eliminate drug abuse and realise the vision of a drug-free Andhra Pradesh.
The remarks came shortly after Prime Minister Modi launched the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ campaign, which will run as a 100-week nationwide Jan Bhagidari initiative featuring awareness drives, sports events, cultural programmes and community outreach activities.
