Narayanpet: Govt School Student Is Developing Games In State
Hyderabad, Makthal, sept.28 (Maxim News): Students of Government Schools in Makthal mandal in Narayanpet district have set an example that the rural students if guided properly, bring out their best at any given platform. The students, who undertook online training in coding imparted by Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA), have surprised everyone with their skills. Expressing happiness at the development, TITA Global President Sundeep Kumar Makthala said that the students of Makthal School who hardly knew the basics of a smartphone are now conveniently developing games and animation on their own after being trained by TITA in coding.
Given the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in various spheres and the growing prominence of coding, the TITA has decided to impart coding skills to one lakh people in Telangana by 2022 through its digital entity Digithon. Moreover, the newly introduced National Education Policy (NEP-2020) also stresses on imparting coding skills at school level education. In most of the countries, coding part of the school education and students get to learn it right from class VI itself.
TITA, in association with the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), has recently launched a program to impart coding skills to enthusiasts to explore the domain of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. As part of this program, training will be provided to learners (with no prior technical knowledge) in the areas like Scratch, Python programming languages. As part of the coding program, trainers will impart coding skills based on Massachusetts Institute of Technology developed Scratch which will focus on the basic level program, developing games, voice to text conversion, developing games for two weeks which will enable the trainees to develop games, animation on their own.
NEP envisages imparting of coding to school students. TITA got a framework for this and initiated efforts in this direction. Accordingly, 39 students and teachers in all were selected from among 13 schools in Makthal mandal for the coding training as per the directions of TITA Global President Sundeep Makthala. District Collector Harichandana Dasari, DEO Ravindar and other officials help in the selection of students and schools for the training program.
Among them, some students were unaware of the smartphone basics like mic, mute option but after undergoing two-week long training in coding, they are now able to develop animation, video games, said trainers Mohammad Sajid and Tota Rajasekhar.
Through coding, students got to build essential coding skills, gain an understanding of logic and sequence in the programming language. They got training in video games like ‘Be a star’ as part of which one has to reach out to a star on a rocket.
Later, based on these online classes on their mobiles, they developed animations and games. They also developed animation based greetings through Python programming. They designed greetings for World Gratitude Day and on par with students of international schools.
Speaking about the training, Sundeep Makthala said that connecting techies based in Hyderabad with students in Makthal was a challenging task for the program. However, he expressed happiness saying that students showed much enthusiasm in learning to code. With the scope for work from home increasing, students have more scope and bright prospects in the coding area. Makthala said TITA will expand the coding program for school students across the State and asked enthusiasts to be part of it.(Maxim News)
