NDSA Recommendations On Kaleshwaram Are Cricial: Asked To Conduct Comprehensive Inquiry: Uttam

Hyderabad, Feb 15 (Maxim News): Telangana State Irrigation Minister N.Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) has been asked to conduct a comprehensive investigation on the quality and other issues of medigadda, Annaram, and sundial barrages and submit a report.

He clarified that the recommendations given by NDSA are very important and the decision taken on the Kaleshwaram project will depend on them.  He said that the government has already written a letter to NDSA on this matter.  “Should Medigadda be removed completely? Need some removal and repairs? Clarification will come after the recommendations given by the authority experts on the subject.  What is the damage? What is the cost of the work to be undertaken later? The understanding will come only after the report is given by the authority.  Has the geological procedure been followed for this project? Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that it needs to be examined.  He said that KCR is experienced in all matters. He said that they are not and that they will take action only after the advice of the relevant experts.  

Speaking to press persons in his chamber in the Assembly, he said that further action on Medigadda will be based on the recommendation of NDSA.  This is how the barrage that KCR built like genius has become.  He went in a helicopter and showed the places where three barrages were to be built and said, he had shown the places where to build.  estimated costs have been increased horizontally.  Central Water Commission (CWC ) said that the Kaleswaram, Siarama, Sammakka, and Devadula jurisdictions are overlapping, and this would cause a huge loss.  We will find out who is responsible for it.

KCR spoke irresponsibly in the Nalgonda meeting held on Tuesday.  If one side of medigadda collapses and is in danger, as he said, we cannot store water and put people’s lives at risk.  Defeated KCR made people sit at home, why else are his suggestions?  KCR should take full responsibility for Medigadda’s depression.  Apologize to people for this.  We request the police to investigate the basis of the FIR registered by the Government of India.  We will also give the vigilance report to the police.  There will also be a hearing with a retired judge.

Tummidi Hatti is a very well-designed project.  It was designed to be built at an estimated cost of Rs. 38,400 crores.  16.5 lakh acres would get water at a low cost.  Land acquisition of 3,000 acres in Maharashtra would be completed with just Rs. 1,500 crores.  KCR government has done project redesigning with malicious intent to commit corruption. The estimated cost has increased significantly.  In the case of Ayakat, KCR is saying inconsistent calculations.  Instead of coming to the Legislature, he is speaking outside the House.

For the Kaleswaram project, loans were brought with short duration and high interest.  This is putting a huge financial burden on the government.  The interest of Rs. 18,000 crore has to be paid annually on the debts.  Bills worth Rs. 14,500 crore are pending.  We are also investigating the subcontract system in the project.  Not as a minister, but as a patriotic citizen, this is my responsibility said Uttam Kumar Reddy.
