Neet-UG Re-Exam Not Required: Supreme Court Comprehensive Verdict

Delhi/Hyderabad, Aug 2 (Maxim News) The Supreme Court on Friday issued the final verdict on the NEET-UG paper leak case which is causing a stir across the country.  A bench headed by Chief Justice of India D.Y Chandrachud clarified that there was no organized violation to the NEET paper leakage.  It said the paper leakage was confined to Hazaribagh and Patna.

However, the Supreme Court directed the Center along with the National Testing Agency to avoid the defects in the examination system.  Similarly, measures should be taken to prevent the recurrence of paper leakage incidents in the future.  The committee appointed by the Central government has been directed to submit a report within two months. the Central Education Department said to submit a report to the Supreme Court within two weeks on the implementation of the committee’s report.

The Supreme Court announced the verdict giving detailed reasons for not canceling the NEET (National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test)-UG medical entrance exam, despite intense controversy over paper allegations and other irregularities in the examination.

The Supreme Court given the instruction to form the Evolution Committee, standard operating procedures should be formulated, Examination Center allotment process should be -reviewed, identity verification process should be further improved, CCTVs should be installed in all examination centers, security should be increased against paper tampering, better grievance redressal system should be established, International cooperation should be taken to develop technology in the field of cyber security.

It is known that the issue of NEET leak has created a lot of controversy across the country. Many approached the Supreme Court to cancel the examination held on May 5 and re-conduct it. The Supreme Court refused to do so, the question paper was indeed leaked, but its impact was minimal. NEET re-exam is not required. The Supreme Court today gave a comprehensive verdict on these petitions.

On the other hand, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the NEET paper leakage, has filed the first charge sheet.  In this, 13 people including four candidates, a junior engineer and two conspirators have been included as accused. (Maxim News)
