According to an official notification issued by the RBI, the design and features of the upcoming ₹20 notes will remain identical to those of the currently circulating notes. The color scheme, dimensions, security features, and the depiction of the Ellora Caves on the reverse side will all be retained in the new series.

The RBI clarified that all ₹20 denomination notes issued in the past will continue to be valid and legally acceptable, regardless of the signature of the issuing Governor. The central bank emphasized that issuing new notes with the signature of the current Governor is a standard procedure that follows a change in the institution’s leadership. It also affirmed that this process will not affect the validity or usage of the existing currency in circulation.
