New Category Of Buses To Hit The Roads In Telangana: No Free For Women

Hyderabad, July 30 (Maxim News): Two new category buses are coming in TSRTC. Semi-deluxe buses will ply between major cities as well as metro deluxe buses in the city. Many buses have already reached the depots. The state government will start these soon. Women also have to buy a ticket to travel in these buses.

As part of the Mahalakshmi scheme, women have been provided free travel accommodation in RTC express and ordinary buses. The government, which is already facing financial problems, is unable to reimburse the full amount from time to time.  

As the amount to be reimbursed so far is Rs. 610 crores.  RTC will introduce two new category buses to increase the revenue.  At present, Super Luxury, Express, Deluxe, Pallevelugu and Garuda buses are plying in RTCV.  Express buses are the biggest revenue earner for RTC.  That is why their number is more than others.  But the Corporation income has fallen by half as the women are running towards express buses along with village velugu for free.  Even if there are deluxe category buses, they are less popular.  This is why the number of these is also nominal.

Now between these two categories RTC is introducing a semi-deluxe category..  The ticket price will be 5 to 6 percent higher than the express.  It will also be 4 percent less than Deluxe.  Compared to express buses, seats are also more.  The Corporation has decided to ply these buses on the routes where there is a demand for express buses. Due to free travel for women, more women are travelling in buses.  Recently RTC found that almost 20 percent of men are switching to alternative vehicles due to lack of seats for men.  It is expected that such people will take the bus in this context. 

The Corporation believes that there are indications that 10 to 15 percent of the women passengers waiting for the express buses board these buses.  As there are fewer stops than the express, there is a chance that some of the passengers traveling in alternative vehicles will travel in the semi-deluxe buses.  Earlier Metro deluxe category buses ply in the city.  They were removed due to their obsolescence.  They were not started after that.  Now they will be restored again.  The ticket revenue has reduced significantly due to free travel for women in ordinary and express buses in the city.

Now women also have to take tickets in metro deluxe buses.  Some women are going in autos when the traffic is so heavy that they cannot even stand.  Such people will have a chance to board this new category of buses.  The city officials believe that the income will also be high due to this.  A total of 300 buses are expected to ply the road.  (Maxim News)
