New Record Set in Telangana IT Employment
Hyderabad: Telangana had set a new record of sorts in IT employment last year. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao declared that for every 10 new jobs provided by IT sector in the country last year, three jobs were provided by the IT industry in Telangana. The job ratio was only one out of every 10 new jobs provided by the IT industry in the country in undivided Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing the 75th Independence Day celebrations at Golconda Fort here on Sunday, Chandrashekhar Rao said after formation of Telangana state, 20 world-renowned IT giants have established their offices in Hyderabad. The IT exports from Telangana have grown from Rs 57,258 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 1.45 lakh crore in 2020-21. Similarly, the employment generation in IT sector has grown significantly and the IT sector was providing nearly double the number of jobs every year currently when compared to 2013-14.
The Chief Minister said some people expressed apprehensions about the future of IT sector after the formation of the Telangana State, which have been proved wrong. The State government withstood the impact of the Covid pandemic which has shown negative impact on the economy and the IT sector in the State has progressed considerably.
“Telangana is at forefront in industrial development. The government has introduced TS-iPASS policy in November of 2015 to felicitate to establishment of industries which attracted huge investments to the State. Since the launch of the TS-iPASS, Telangana has received an investment of Rs 2.2 lakh crore,” he said. In the last seven years, about 16,671 industries have been established in the State providing over 15.86 lakh jobs.
