Hyderabad: NIA raids in Poonch were carried out on Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation into a terror conspiracy case in Jammu and Kashmir. Officials confirmed that the National Investigation Agency conducted searches at several locations in the border district during the operation.
The raids took place at Mohalla Khorinar and Hari Surankote in Poonch district. Investigators carried out the searches in connection with a case linked to a terror conspiracy. The case relates to the recovery of arms and ammunition from two individuals in the district in 2024.
According to officials, authorities recovered a pistol and two grenades during the earlier operation. The recovery formed the basis of the investigation into the alleged terror conspiracy. Therefore, the National Investigation Agency has continued its probe by conducting fresh searches at locations linked to the case.
Meanwhile, investigators have already taken legal action against the accused in the matter. The NIA had filed a chargesheet against two accused persons identified as Abdul Aziz and Munawar Hussain. Officials said both individuals are linked to the conspiracy under investigation.
The chargesheet also named a Pakistani handler identified as Nazir Hussain. Authorities included him in the case as part of the alleged terror network connected to the accused. The agency filed the chargesheet in April last year as the investigation progressed.
However, the probe has continued as investigators attempt to gather further evidence and information related to the conspiracy. Therefore, the latest NIA raids in Poonch are part of ongoing efforts to examine links connected to the accused and the recovery of weapons.
Officials have not released further details regarding the searches carried out during Thursday’s operation. However, the agency continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the recovery of the pistol and grenades in the border district.
