Sana’a/internet/Hyderabad, July 29 (Maxim News): Indian nurse Nimisha Priya has finally been freed from the death penalty. The office of Indian Grand Mufti and Sunni religious preacher Kanthapuram AP abubakar Musliyar has announced that the death sentence previously imposed on her, who was facing the death penalty in Yemen, has been permanently commuted. His office issued a statement to this effect on Monday midnight.
However, there is no official statement from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs yet. A high level meeting was held in Sana’a City, the capital of Yemen, to consider the requests for her death sentence to be commuted. Local media reports said that North Yemeni officials and international diplomatic representatives participated in this meeting. (Maxim News)
