Hyderabad, April 5 (Maxim News): Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today urged Centre to extend quota of chana dal from Telangana.
In a letter addressed to union agriculture minister, Narendra Singh Thomar, Reddy asked for permission to procure more chana dal as the state is set to produce in more quality. To protect farmers interests extend quota by offering minimum support Price he said.
Niranjan Reddy informed that there have procured 19876 metric tons of chana dal so far. The centre, he said, has permitted to purchase 47600 metric tons and now need permission for 27830 metric tons more chana dal. As the centre said we have purchased 19876 metric tons of the same produce each quintal for Rs 4875 MSP Niranjan Reddy said.
He also said that the state farmers are set to produce the crop in 1.89 lakh tons down in 1.46 lakh hectares. On giving permission a 40 percent of chana dal produce can be procured as per our norms he added. (Maxim News)
