Nitish Kumar Unanimously Elected As JDU Party President

Delhi/Hyderabad, Dec 29 (Maxim News): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has taken the reins of Janata Dal United (JDU) in his hands. Nitish was unanimously elected as the president of Bihar’s ruling JDU at the party’s national executive meeting held here on Friday.

He took the reins of the party shortly after the resignation of Lalan Singh, who was the national president till now. Lalan singh was sacked because of his closeness to Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RjD), JDU’s partner party in Bihar. Immediately after the meeting, Lalan singh expressed his anger at the question asked by the media, asking “Why the outrage? Why should I be angry? This is the first time to hear this, he said.

Meanwhile, BJP leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh’s comments that Lalu Prasad Yadav told him that JDU will soon merge with RJD are said to have made Nitish think. Moreover, Nitish is said to be of the opinion that Lalan Singh has failed to focus on him as the prime ministerial candidate of the ‘India’ alliance. However, RjD leader and Deputy Chief Minister Tajaswi yadav rejected Union Minister Giriraj singh’s comments. He lashed out at the BJP for destabilizing the JDU-RJD alliance in the state.

Meanwhile, Bihar Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said that Lalan singh wanted to devote more time to his constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and for that reason he wanted to hand over the post of JDU president to the Chief Minister and Nitish agreed to that. With the 2024 Lok Sabha elections looming and speculations of Nitish Kumar in the prime ministerial race, his return as JDU chief has become a priority.  (Maxim News)
