Nizamabad Police | Nizamabad, Oct 19: Nizamabad Police said rowdy sheeter Riyaz is in custody and released his photo, following rumours of an encounter in the Sarangapur forest area of the district.

Officials said reports claimed an encounter during an attempted escape, but the police refuted them. The released image shows injuries on Riyaz’s face and him seated in a police vehicle with handcuffs, indicating he had been apprehended alive.

Speaking to the media, Nizamabad Police Commissioner Sai Chaitanya responded to the reports and gave a clear statement. He said that no shots were fired at Riyaz, he is alive, in custody, was injured in a scuffle with another person before detention, and is receiving treatment.

Police linked the custody development to the killing of CCS Constable Pramod, who was stabbed when teams went to catch the absconding accused.

The incident caused a statewide stir. Therefore, the department intensified operations to track and detain the suspect and moved to counter misinformation with official communication and visuals.

The Director General of Police, Shivadhar Reddy, took a serious view of the case and issued urgent directions. He ordered special teams to apprehend the accused without delay and instructed senior officers to visit the spot, oversee the situation, meet the family of the deceased constable, and provide necessary assistance.

As a result, police teams conducted sustained searches and, on Sunday, took Riyaz into custody. Officials said the next steps focus on evidence-based investigation and procedure.

The released photo supports the police version that no encounter took place and that the accused was secured alive.

Then, with the commissioner’s explicit denial of firing and mention of medical care, the force sought to reinforce transparency.

Meanwhile, the murder of Constable Pramod remains central to the case narrative, and the custody marks a key step in the probe and in addressing public concern.
