New Delhi, Aug.31 (Maxim News): Congress senior leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy has said that the election commission would not conduct early elections though the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao if abolished the Assembly.
Speaking to the media after meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat here on Friday, Marri said that there was a scope for technical problems with early elections. He said that the election commission has no clarity on seven Telangana mandals merger with Andhra Pradesh state. Marri opined that changes to the constituencies would be taken up with Article 170 and there was no need of constitutional amendment. He said that the constituencies of Telangana state’s morphology were changed with the transfer of seven mandals. It was not possible to solve the transfer of seven mandals issue with Home Department’s orders but it was possible only with the amendment of constitution in Parliament, he opined.
He alleged that there were several irregularities in old voter list and so that the TRS party was going for early elections in hurry. He revealed that the commission didn’t give training to the election commission staff on maintaining VV Pat Machines. In this context there was no chance for early elections in December, he clarified. He questioned KCR, who extended support to the idea of simultaneous elections, to tell as the reason for conducting early elections to Assembly. (Maxim News)
