Meanwhile, the opposition is alleging that Speaker Om Birla is not allowing them to speak in the House. During the recent budget session, 8 opposition party MPs were suspended. The MPs were suspended after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi insisted on a discussion on the issues in the unpublished book by former Army Chief Naravane regarding India-China tensions. In this context, the Congress, angered by the Speaker’s behavior, has moved a no-confidence motion.

Normally, 14 days’ notice is required to move a no-confidence motion. Accordingly, the no-confidence motion is likely to be debated in the House during the second budget session. The first budget session will begin on January 8 and end on February 13. The second session will begin on March 9 and continue till April 2. (Maxim News)
