No Lockdown Like Situation In India

With COVID-19 once again spreading its venom in China, speculations of lockdown in India have started surfacing. A few cases of a new COVID subvariant called “BF.7” have been recorded in different parts of the country. Amid all this, Indian Medical Association’s Dr. Anil Goyal has given an important statement shrugging speculations of lockdown imposition. During an interview, Anil said that as 95% of the Indian population is vaccinated, the country won’t be facing any lockdown. The immunity of our countrymen is stronger than the Chinese, added Dr. Goyal.

As Per the reports, BF.7 variant is creating havoc in China, Japan, the US, and Brazil. In India, three cases of the subvariant have been found in Gujarat (1) and Odisha (2). The first victim of the deadly virus was detected in Gujarat. With this, speculations of another COVID wave and lockdown have spread like a wildfire in India and around the world. The central and state governments have come into action to ensure medical preparedness against the threat looming over the world once again.

Talking about the lockdown, Dr. Goyal said that India must switch to COVID basics- testing, treating, and tracing. In 2022, India became the second country to administer over two billion vaccination doses, the first being China. The Union Health Ministry data update on Thursday confirmed 185 new coronavirus cases in India. A plunge of six cases was recorded in the active caseload in a span of 24 hours. The government is most likely to make masks compulsory at all public places, especially airports. The citizens should take precautionary measures and switch to masks and sanitizers to ensure their safety.
