No Proper Time To Hold MLC Elections: Niranjan

Hyderabad, May 9 (Maxim News): TPCC election coordination committee convener G. Niranjan today said the election notification issued to hold MLC elections for local body seats shows the lack of responsibility of the Election Commission. He also said it was not proper time to hold elections to the MLC seats that fell vacant last year as the State was witnessing MPTC and ZPTC elections in the State.

Niranjan said though the deadline to hold the MLC elections was June 10, he wondered as to why the State government allowed the EC to hold the elections. In a statement here today, he also said although it is a norm to hold the elections after giving notice to the political parties before the issuance of formal Election Commission notification, he alleged that the EC had ignored all such practices and issued the notification in the middle of the night.
