Director Vikramaditya Motwane, who is set to direct the cinematic adaptation of Chakra: The Invincible (2013), says that since India doesn’t have a superhero culture, making the film will be a challenge.
“We don’t have a superhero culture [in India]. Comic books and superheroes are part of the American culture. It’s difficult to transport into an alien culture and make a film on superheroes, when you don’t have a base for that,” Motwane said.
Chakra: The Invincible is the first Indian superhero created by comic legend Stan Lee. According to reports, Anurag Kashyap’s Phantom Films has teamed up with Lee’s POW! Entertainment and Graphic India for the project.
