Ramchandra Rao spoke in Hyderabad on Friday as a counter to the comments made by Minister Ponnam Prabhakar. He said that BJP has no objection to the power point presentation on Musi. He said that BJP has never opposed the revival of Musi river or the Musi project.

He said that his party wants the Musi River to be clean from Hyderabad city to its confluence with the Krishna River, and that clean water should flow in it, and that water should be used for irrigation by farmers. However, he said that it is not right for Congress leaders to repeatedly make false allegations on this issue and try to mislead the people. He criticized both the Chief Minister and Minister Ponnam Prabhakar for making various comments on the BJP. But he reminded that the BJP’s stance on the Musi issue has been the same from the beginning.

He said that his party still says that the Musi River must be revived. But he said that demolishing the houses of poor and middle class families living there in the name of ‘Gandhi Sarovar’ is unacceptable. He said that there is no need to demolish the houses built legally in areas like Madhuban Park and Vigneshwar Colony. He said that the Musi can be cleaned without demolishing those houses.

Those who take the Sabarmati River as an example… made a key suggestion to first find out how the project was originally set up there. He reminded that once Sabarmati was also polluted and smelly like a cesspool. He said that after Narendra Modi took charge as the Chief Minister of Gujarat… he cleaned the river by diverting water from the Narmada River to the Sabarmati and linking the rivers. He reminded that the project was taken up only after the poor families living there were first rehabilitated… and alternative houses were given to them. He said that development work was taken up only after alternative houses were given to about 4 thousand families, and that real development is the one that happens without harming the lives of the people. He said that the BJP is strongly opposed to making families living in areas like Madhuban Park, Vigneshwar Colony and others homeless. He said that demolishing the houses of poor and middle class people in the name of development is unfair.

He suggested that if land is needed for Gandhi Sarovar, the project can be realigned. He said that a plan should be prepared without damaging a single house. He said that if a Gandhi statue is to be built, it can be built to touch the sky, whether it is a thousand feet or two thousand feet, and the BJP has no objection to that. But he warned that the BJP will definitely oppose it if the houses of the poor are demolished and their livelihood is affected. He said that the Musi should be cleaned first and then development work should be taken up, and he has no objection to that. He said that creating panic among the people that gas, oil, diesel and petrol will not be available in the country is completely irresponsible.

He said that it is unfortunate that Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi are making such comments. He said that when there are wars and tensions in the world, their impact can be seen all over the world and in India, but it is not right to create panic that there will be shortage in the country in the same name. He said that the central government has taken this issue very seriously. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi reminded that they have spoken to the leaders of the relevant countries and taken steps to ensure that the oil and gas supply to India reaches the country without interruption through the Strait of Hormuz. He said that India is not dependent on a single region and about 40 percent of its crude oil comes from other countries. Therefore, there will be no shortage of gas cylinders, petrol and diesel in the country.

He clarified that there may be minor delays in transportation due to war conditions, but there will be no shortage of fuel. He said that the people of India are capable of facing any situation in the world. At such a time, leaders should instill courage in the people, he said, adding that it is a big mistake to create panic. He reminded that the Prime Minister has already made it clear that there will be no shortage of LPG and gas supply for domestic use in the country. He said that the Central Government has also assured that the supply of fuel to the common people will continue continuously. Therefore, it is not right to make comments that cause panic among the people without knowing the facts, said BJP’s Ramchandra Rao. (Maxim News)
